A round silver medal, the obverse centre presents the right facing portrait of Friedrich August, surrounded by the inscription FRIEDRICH AUGUST KNIG VON SACHSEN, the reverse centre presents the three line inscription FR LEBENS RETTUNG (FOR LIFE SAVING), bordered by a dense oak leaf wreath, measuring 35. 53 mm in diameter, on loop for suspension from period original
