Austria, Empire. A Military Order of Maria Theresa, II Class Commander, by Rothe, c.1970 consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac and is sewn into place(Militr Maria Theresien Orden). Instituted in 1757, discontinued in 1919. Three piece construction, in silver gilt with red, white and green enamels, unmarked but done in the Rothe of Vienna style, measuring 44 mm (w) x 47. 8 mm (h) inclusive of its integral suspension, intact enamels, on its original full length neck ribbon with ties sewn in place at the ends, extremely fine.
