Württemberg, Kingdom. A Merit Cross With Swords Hold with total loss of finish(Verdienstkreuz mit Schwertern). Instituted 2 July 1900 by King Wilhelm II. (1915 1918 issue). Constructed of silver with gilt, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Patte with pebbled arms and with gilded swords piercing the centrepiece, the obverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Wilhelm II, the reverse bearing a central raised inscription of VERDIENST (MERIT), unmarked, measuring 31. 68 mm (w) x 36.
