The guitarist and singer started the Florida based band after his old band, Mantas, broke up. They released their debut LP Scream Bloody Gore on Combat in 1987. This was arguably the first ever death metal release. The record was almost entirely played by Schuldiner, as he recorded the bass, guitars, and vocals. Death continued on until Schuldiner's death in 2001, releasing six more albums and
