Having served in Pictons famous division in the Peninsular War, the 5th was with the army in the south of France. It arrived at Quebec from Bordeaux, in July, 1814, a part of some 16,000 of Wellingtons veterans sent to America. It was at the battle of Plattsburg, Sept 11, 1814, and
